B2D Directional Lavalier

The smallest directional lavalier in the world, the B2D shuts out ambient noise and opens up possibilities.

Configure

The B2D is easily the smallest directional lavalier in the world, with the next smallest mic being more than twice its size. Combined with exceptional sound quality and isolation, this tiny package opens up a new set of miking options that were previously unavailable. The tight hypercardioid pattern gives the B2D an extra 6-10 dB of headroom compared to an omni lav, meaning less problems with feedback, ambient noise, room rumble, and phase cancellations with multiple mics.

The B2D is supplied with:

  • Wireless adapter (if detachable)
  • Carrying case
  • Single isolation clip
  • Windscreen
  • Protective cap

Detachable connectors

Detachable connectors interface to a wide variety of transmitters and system inputs. Different venues or different applications, your mic is as flexible as you are.

Nearly invisible

With a diameter of only 0.1" (2.5mm) -- the size of a No. 2 pencil lead -- the mic capsule virtually disappears when worn.

True colors

Our colors are precision-matched to theatre makeup shades to blend with a wide range of skin tones and clothing.

Product Options

Connection

Choose the device which will connect to your microphone.

Learn More

Brand is the manufacturer of the wireless transmitter or digital recorder which will be used with the microphone. Choose "Hardwired" for a phantom powered XLR3 connection.

Model is the model number of the transmitter pack or digital recorder.

For digital recorders only choose how you would like the mono microphone signal routed:

"Audio on Left Channel" to route the mono microphone signal to the recorder’s left channel.

"Audio on Left and Right Channels" to route the mono microphone signal to the recorder’s left and right channels.

Color

Learn More

Countryman products come in a variety of colors to blend in with their surroundings:

Tan works perfectly for average Caucasian skin tones, as well as olive complexions and is a common earset choice.

Light beige works well in theatrical applications due to its slightly pink undertone, which is also appropriate for extremely fair skin.

Cocoa is the ideal choice for African American skin tones ranging from very light to chocolate.

Black is appropriate for extremely dark skin or for situations where you want the mic to be visible.

White is a versatile choice for light-colored clothing. The white protective caps available for our lavaliers can be colored with felt pens for a custom match to clothing.

For placement against skin, when in doubt, choose the darker option. That’s because a mic that’s too light can resemble a scar or blemish, while a mic that’s slightly darker than the background tends to blend much better and draws less attention.

Sensitivity

Learn More

The more sensitive a microphone is to soft sounds, the earlier it will overload at loud sounds. We provide sensitivity options based on the intended use, from general speaking to powerful vocals or instruments. "W" sensitivities are for wireless systems; "P" sensitivities are for hardwired systems.

E6 Earset: or H6 Headset For standard spoken word applications, choose the W5. For musical theater, or dynamic presenters, choose the W6. For opera singers, or other extremely loud applications only, choose the W7.

E2 Earset: The standard gain (W5, no colored band) is for almost all applications, including vocals and speaking. The lower gain (W6, blue band) is for powerful vocals requiring the highest overload.

Lavaliers: Choose W4 for standard chest-worn applications, W5 for head miking in a theatre, and W6 for head miking with very powerful vocals--for example, head miking an opera singer--or positioning near the mouth.

Detachability

Learn More

The detachable B2D uses a miniature threaded connector to interface the same microphone to a wide variety of wireless transmitter packs or an XLR input. This feature provides extreme flexibility for rental companies, consultants, or anyone else working at multiple venues or with different wireless systems.

Alternately, the fixed B2D uses a permanently attached connector to the microphone, and can only be used with one type of transmitter or XLR input.
